Chrome and Firefox penalize unsafe websites in 2017

Back in 2014 Google announced that HTTPS is go be used by every website. Behind this decision was their desire to create a more secure internet environment for everyone. Around the same time Mozilla began to phase out outdated SSL certificates. Both companies announced that new rules were going to be implemented in 2017.

What is HTTPS?

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure), is a protocol for secure communications on a computer network. The encrypted communication between client and server, prevents data tampering or eavesdroppers on your website.

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer, and it is the standard security technology that encrypts the link between web server and a browser. This link will make sure that all data exchanged between web servers and browsers remain private and secure.
