vBoxxCloud File Server Enablement
vBoxxCloud allows you to synchronize servers with the cloud. This way, you retain the existing folder structure, and users can access files on the local server from anywhere, for example, when they are not present in the office. This eliminates the need for a VPN or FTP connection to access files. You can also back up your file server.
There are 4 system limitations when using this feature:
- Once a folder is categorized, its subfolders cannot be categorized.
- One folder cannot be linked to two user accounts or team shares on a device.
- Two folders cannot be linked to the same user account or team share on one device.
- The categorized folders and their subfolders require NTFS permission from the 'System User' to synchronize: "Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, or Full Control." You can find the screenshot of this article at the bottom.

Setting up the Local Server
Before we proceed to map the server, it is essential to ensure that everything is configured correctly. Install the Sync Tool on the local server if not already done. You can download it from web.vboxx.nl > Your Name > Download Apps > Windows/Mac Client.
Below is a list of required aspects:
- The Sync Tool must have a System Admin or another user with full control rights on the local server. If configured correctly, you will see the name 'SYSTEM' under the Username in the Task Manager details for agent_service.exe.
Enabling Mapping
- Log in to web.vboxx.nl and navigate to Organization Settings > Machines. Find the device you want to connect to the cloud and click on Enable Mapping:
Once you have completed this step, all linked folders with users or team shares will be synchronized immediately. Note: When a folder on the file server is assigned to a user or team share, they will both be hidden. This makes it impossible to link the same admin user to other team shares.
